We don't have many details yet on Samuel Harrison Bowen, 1855-1910 we know he married Sarah Elizabeth Gibbs"Bette" abt. 1882,Samuel taught at Mount Joy School,in Marion Co.AL. Samuel was a clerk, a school teacher and Justice of the Peace in the 1880's. He resided in the area of Pearces Mills and Brilliant, AL. We know he was missing part of a limb, due to a snake bite, and wore a peg-leg. Samuel was b. Sept.19,1855 and d.Dec.21,1910 age 55. He had a brother Arch S.Bowen, that married Sam's wifes sister, Odella D.Gibbs in 1891. Arch left his family and went, they think, to S.C. We still need documentation on the parents of Sam and Arch Bowen. They may have also had brothers Grant and Asa. known children: Dona Bowen 10/14/1883-12/25/1959 m.1913 Arthur Leon Heatherly 12/6/1893-6//1966. They resided in Harlan Co.Ky, but both are buried at Mt.Joy Cem.in Marion Co.AL. [they had no children] Sterling Bowen 3/9/1887-6/5/1956 m.Marcenia Mazengo 9/11/1891-2/15/1917 both buried at Gold Mine Cem.Marion Co.AL. ___Otha"Gwen" ___Edgar 1913-1917 ___Felix Vester Bowen 11/2/1889-3/31/1975 m. Bessie Dickinson ___James ___Max ___ ___ Rachel LuemmerBowen 4/7/1893-1/28/1981 m.4/29/1917 James Adam Rawls 3/31/1896-12/16/1967 both at Gold Mine Cem.Brilliant AL. children: ___Iva Lee 7/3/1918-11/3/1979 m.1946 James A.Lindsay,m.1952 Alex J.Marksz, she had four children ___Myrtie Ree 9/23/1920-7/25/1995 m.1944 Harry F.Walker she had eight children ___Ala Dee Rawls 1/24/1923- m.1945 James Lloyd Bagwell they had three children ___Ida Bee Rawls 7/29/1930-9/24/1931 buried at Gold Mine Cem. She died of pnuemonia age 14 mos.
